It is with great sadness the family of the late Scott Wight announce his sudden passing at his home in Rocky Harbour after a long battle with cancer.

Scott will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Lorraine (nee Ellsworth); children, Darlene (Barry) Hynes, and Wilson (Cindy King) Wight; grandsons, Rodney Shears (Lea) and Joey Shears (Jasmine); brothers and sisters, Howard (Ivy) Wight, Madeline (Ross) Fudge, Eileen (Aaron) Reid, Clyde (Elaine) Wight, and Kevin (Hughena) Wight; brothers and sisters-in-law; Marie Bennett (Raymond), Woodrow (Jesse) Ellsworth, Clarence (Vickie) Ellsworth, George (Liz) Ellsworth, Myra (Maris) Freimanis, Pauline (Ken) Ellsworth, Justine Webber, Curling (Anna) Ellsworth, and Mike (Audrey) Ellsworth. Also left to mourn are his loving nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and neighbours.

He was predeceased by his parents Wilson and Mildred, brother Walter and sisters Joyce and Betty.

Scott worked as a heavy equipment operator, truck and float operator for Maritime Construction and Floyd Construction. His work took him all over Newfoundland and Labrador. He was passionate about moose hunting and spending time at the cabin. Scott also loved music and came from a musically talented family; he enjoyed a singsong with friends and family.

Visitation will be held at the Gros Morne Community Church, Main Street South, Rocky Harbour on December 27th at 1pm, followed by the funeral service at 2pm, with Paster Ryan Ball and Paster Courtney O’Reilly officiating.

As expressions of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Gros Morne Community Church or the Canadian Cancer Association.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home.
