Graham Joseph Chubbs
August 2, 1930 – December 26, 2023
It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of Graham Joseph Chubbs, on December 26, 2023, at age 93, at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, with family by his side.
Graham was born August 2, 1930 in Deep Water Creek, Labrador, to Gertrude (Curl) Chubbs and James Chubbs. While he was still a young child, the family moved to Fox Harbour (now St. Lewis), where he resided the rest of his life until March, 2021, when he moved to Forteau Long Term Care Facility in Forteau, Lab.
Fox Harbour is where he and his wife Florence raised their two children, Brian and Sheila, and was always home to him.
Over his lifetime, he worked at various jobs to support his family. He worked on the American base, construction of the fish plant, but mostly as a fisherman. He loved being on the water, and was probably where he was the happiest. He was a hunter, a boat builder, a great snowshoe maker, and in later years, a gardener. He loved the outdoors, whether it be hunting, fishing, berry picking, or just hanging out in his shed. He was a very hard working man and never once complained about it, and took great pride in that.
He was very quiet and reserved, and not one to show a lot of emotions, but the love and pride he had for his family was immense.
Predeceased by parents James and Gertrude Chubbs, wife Florence Chubbs, parents in law Fred and Emma Poole, sister in law Elsie Chubbs, sister in law Shirley Penney, brothers in law Tom Poole, William Poole, Norman Poole, Nelson Poole, Paul Poole, and Earle Poole.
Leaving to mourn with a heart full of precious memories, and complete admiration, son Brian (Karen), daughter Sheila (Wade), grandchildren Shawna (Ryan), Ryan (Brittany), Amanda (Jody), Tony, great grandchildren Eva, Arjay, Brianna and Adalynn, brothers Cyril, Warrick (Elaine), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
A special thank you to the staff of Forteau Long Term Care Facility for the care provided during his stay there.
