Obituary of Frederick Pelley
Frederick Pelley
November 24, 1948 – December 31, 2023
FREDERICK PELLEY, 75, of Bishop’s Falls, NL, surrounded by family, passed away peacefully on December 31st, 2023, due to dementia. Fred Pelley, loving husband to Nancy Pelley nee Clatney and precious father to his boys Ryan and Rodney (Vanessa), grandaughters, Blake and Riley, daughter, Diana. Fred, son of Lloyd and Emma, brother to Roy (Mary), Gloria (Charles), Ches (Joyce), Everett, Albert (Melida), Joan (Ab), Laura, Doug. Brother-in-law, Danny (Kay). Preceded by siblings, Clara (Harry), Bruce and Ralph, and brother-in-law Colin.
Fred was a loving family man, loyal friend and hard worker who lived life with passion. He always helped others in times of need, through acts of kindness large and small, he had an impact on so many people throughout his lifetime. Fred was a storyteller who would commonly strike up conversations with people he just met, leaving their day filled with more joy. He certainly lived life to the fullest and loved to travel, most of the time to see his sons play hockey or to visit them at university.
With a personable demeanor, he was strong and gentle, frequently smiling, singing or laughing and had a wonderful sense of humour. He enjoyed the great outdoors; he was happy to sit around the campfire for a singalong and chopping wood was exercise not a chore.
An avid fisherman and hunter, in both Newfoundland at a young age and British Columbia, where he would raise his family in Kitimat, there was never a shortage of moose in the freezer or canned salmon stocked on the shelves. He was a provider and protector not only to his family but to many others who were fortunate to know him.
Fred was a natural athlete, he played many sports, excelled particularly at hockey and soccer and also enjoyed baseball. His passion for sport followed him through life as he coached his sons in both hockey and soccer. He was a fair and honest coach, much like how he lived his life with high integrity. He kept his promises and always followed through on his word. He was reliable; in any situation you could always count on him for assistance.
Throughout an adventurous life filled with many special memories, what he loved most was spending time with his loving wife Nancy and his sons, Rod and Ryan, who were so fortunate to call Fred their dad.
He was the best.
