James Roy Piccott

St. David’s, NL

January 27, 1949 – December 31, 2023

It is with profound sadness that the family of James ‘Roy' Piccott announce his peaceful passing on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023 at his residence in Maidstone at the age of 74.

Leaving to mourn is his wife of 52 years, Sharon, sons Todd (Judy), Greg (Lori); grandchildren: James, Jordan, Mackenzie, Brady, Brendan, Jesse, Charles (Rhianna), Ella & Ryan; great- grandchildren: Emerson, Harper, Harley, Hannah; his brother: George (Nicole), sister-in-law Belle. Brother & Sisters-in-law: Kenny (Marilyn), Sandra (Mike), Lisa (John). Also leaving to mourn many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Roy was a truck driver & equipment operator most of his life. He made many friends along the way. Always there to lend a hand. He took pride in everything he owned and looked after it. If you borrowed something his comment was “Remember that has a home.” Roy was a devoted father and always enjoyed visits from his two sons & family. He loved chatting on the phone and looked forward to frequent calls from family and friends to just talk about daily activities happening in the community and their personal household. He always took pleasure in ‘tinkering’ is his garage, hoping that someone would come by to have a little chat, especially his good friend Malcolm. Roy was opinionated and strongly expressed his point of view but he was a kind man who would always be there to help anyone or he knew exactly the person to refer you to fix a problem. He always loved to joke and tease people and would laugh whole-heartedly when you responded.

He will be “Always remembered….Forever Loved”

Flowers will not be accepted. Donation may be made to the St. Michael and All Angels Memorial Fund.

He was predeceased by his parents James & Harriet Piccott, his mother & father-in-law Florence and Noah Gillam, brothers: Art (Florence), Bronzan (Emma), Freeman and his sister Jane.

Respecting Roy’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  There will be a service on Friday, January 5, 2024 @ 2:00 p.m. at the St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, St. David’s, NL., with Rev. Norman Cutler officiating also joining, Rev. Bill Matchem. No burial at this time.
