CARD OF THANKS

 

The family of the late Derek Fudge would like to extend a heartfelt Thank you to family, friends, clergy and to everyone who came to grieve with us and to support us.

Thanks to those who sent condolences, cards, calls, email messages, monetary gifts, and food to our families at this difficult time.

We would also like to send a special Thank you to Rev. Ed and Judy Sheppard, Rev. Simon, Sandra Pinksen (R.CSM) and Major Betty-Ann Pike, Wanda Purchase for giving Derek a great sendoff to his eternal home. Thank you to the six pallbearers as well.

The nurses of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital of the 2nd, 3b, and 4th floor.

The beautiful angels of nurses and doctors at the Palliative Care Unit of the Western Long Term Care who took great care of Derek.

And a big Thank you to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, to Crystal Young and Mindy Holloway for your professional caring support.

It will always be remembered and appreciated by us all.

Derek Russell Fudge
July 19, 1951 – January 3, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Derek Russell Fudge announce his promotion to Glory, on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Western Long-Term Care, Palliative Unit, Corner Brook, NL at the age of 72 years.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife of 23 years, Brenda; his loving and caring son Desmond; his brothers Malcolm (Pauline) and Ross (Madelyn); and his twin sister Donna (Boyd); his brothers and sisters-in-law Marilyn (Ed), Rock (Cindy), Bob (Daisy), Pam (Lloyd) Sue (John), Lola (Fred), and Brent; special friends who were like family to him, Ray & Sandra, Ann & Harvey, Wilf & Georgina, Melvin & Sylvia and Lily; as well as a large circle of many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Derek was predeceased by his parents Hubert and Dorothy Fudge (Newhook); his siblings Marie, Harold, Ford, Wayne; and his niece Melissa Burry.

A special thank-you to the staff of the 3B Unit at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital and special thanks to Dr. Fudge, Dr. Hanoosh, Dr. Purenase, and Dr. Farzaneh and a special thanks to the nurses, Dr. Lafferty, and Dr. Dunn at the Palliative Care unit.

Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Salvation Army Citadel in Deer Lake on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at 2:30 pm with Ed and Judy Sheppard officiating. Interment to follow at the Deer Lake Interdenominational Cemetery – Salvation Army section. Donations can be made in Dereks memory to the Community Care Ministries of the Salvation Army.
