Obituary of Cyril Dominic Bromley

January 24, 1938 - January 6, 2024

With broken hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our darling Dad, husband, grandfather, and brother Cyril Dominic Bromley, on Sunday, January the 6th, 2024 surrounded by his devoted family,  just shy of his 86th birthday. 

Cyril was born on Fishot Island, where he fished with his father and brothers.  He started a family there with Alice Byrne of Conche, until they resettled to Port au Choix, NL. in 1975.  He returned home to Harbor de Vieux to fish once again with his brothers Ron and Francis until the closure of the cod fishery in 1992.

Left with loving memories are his wife of 51 years, Alice, his children: Maxine (Glen) Alvin (Verna), Deidre (Conrad) and Rocky (Kristen), his grandchildren: Ashley, Carley (Josh), Mark, Nicholas, Ryan, Luke, Riley and special nephew Kevin Bromley.  His sisters: Laura, Ida and Anna,  brother Ed and a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends.

Cyril is predeceased by his parents Maurice and Mary Jo, brothers Maurice, Ron and Francis, his sister Theresa and parents-in-law Michael and Eileen Byrne.

Dad enjoyed a hot drink of rum and a good cigarette; he spent his time watching the boats in the harbour or reading a Newfoundland book.  His grandchildren were his greatest treasures. He invested his time playing with them while sharing a tune on the accordion. He will be missed beyond words.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Irfan, Dad's always on-call-nurses Verna and Maxine, the Staff at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre for the care and compassion that they have provided for him over the years and in his final days.  As an expression of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Visitations:  Tuesday, January 9th from 2pm - 4pm and 7pm - 9pm @ Fillatre's Funeral Home in Port au Choix, NL.

Funeral Mass /Celebration of Life:  Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, 2pm @ St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, Port au Choix, NL.  Father Rossi officiating. 

Cremation will follow after service.  Interment to take place at a later date.
