Card of Thanks - Mona Parsons McAuley

It is with sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks that we, the family of the late Mona Parsons McAuley, express our gratitude to all who helped in any way to alleviate the sorrow caused from our Mom's passing.

We acknowledge those who sent flowers, cards, donations, food, telephone calls and messages.  We thank those who visited our home, visited the church and who attended our Mom's beautiful funeral service.  We, also, thank those people who travelled from out of town.  A special place will be held in our hearts for all of those who shared our sorrow.

Thank you to Rev. Terry Loder, who officiated at the funeral service; Angela Hann, a United Church Member, who assisted Rev. Terry Loder; Organist, Willie Loder; Soloist, Lisa Wheeler; Reader, McAuley Bellows(Grandson); A beautiful eulogy of our Mom's life was done by Meghan Matthews(Granddaughter); people who did the snow clearing at the grave yard; people who looked after the church during the visitation and service.

A heartfelt thank you to the healthcare team of Community Supports and Dementia Care Programs of Western Health, with special thanks to Dr. Amy Pieroway, Candace Hann RN, Brian White OT and Nurse Practitioner Angela House for their exceptional expertise and support to our Mother and the family.

Many thanks to TLC Homecare Agency and her Home Care Workers who took the absolute best care of our mom. She always appreciated their dedication to her.

Thank you to Fillatre's Funeral Home who took care of the funeral arrangements.

The compassion and love shown, at a time when we needed it most, will always be remembered.

The beautiful life of Mona McAuley came to a peaceful end on Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, at the Western Memorial Palliative Care Unit, Corner Brook, with her family by her side, at the age of 91 years.

Mona married Basil McAuley on Oct. 30, 1952 and became the mother of five children, 3 girls and 2 boys.  Raising her family was her greatest joy and her most important work.  As her family grew, she cared for many children, and she was exceptional at this.  Mona took great joy in nurturing children.  She was an exceptional cook and baker and a talented knitter.  She was also a gleaming example of what it meant to be a kind-hearted, loving and generous person.  There was always room in her home and at her table, and she knew the value of a good laugh.

Mona and Basil had many adventures together, and they instilled a love of laughter and fun in their family.  Mona kept her wit and sense of humour until the very end of her life.  Innumerable happy memories remain which will be cherished always.

Mona brought love and comfort to so many and touched the lives of all who knew her.  A beautiful woman inside and out.  She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered and celebrated always.

Leaving to mourn are her four children - Karen(Rendell); Janice(Brian); Albert(Kimmie); Hilda(Byron), and daughter-in-law, Sherry; seven grandchildren - Paula, Colin, Jennifer, Jeffery, Meghan, Wilfred and McAuley; eleven great-grandchildren - Kyla, Paige, Evan, Alex, Ava, Skylar, Payton, Khloe, Billie, Silas and Martha; Sister - Shirley Loder;  and a large circle of relatives, nephews, nieces and friends.

Mona was predeceased by her loving husband, Basil in 2000; Son, Paul; Parents, Albert and Martha Loder; Sisters, Marie Loder, Hilda Ruth and Doreen Whyte; Nephew, Richard Loder.

As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to Western Memorial Regional Hospital Community Support Program (Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation).

Visitation will take place on Thursday, Jan. 11th from 7-9 p.m. and again on Friday, Jan. 12th from 2-4 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Summerside. Cremation will then take place.  The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 13th at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Anglican Church in Summerside, with Rev. Terry Loder officiating.
