Obituary of Barbara Alice Dominie

Barbara Alice Dominie (nee Simms)

February 14, 1948 – January 26, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Barbara Dominie announce her passing on Friday, January 26, 2024 with loving family at her side at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home in Corner Brook, at the age of 75.

Leaving to mourn with loving memories are daughter Darlene, son-in-law, Sheldon and grandchildren Christian, Nicholas and Kaitlyn as well as sisters Jackie Meikle of  NB,  Fran (Bryan) Knight  and brother Allister (Cathy) Moore of  NS.  She will also be missed by brothers -in-law Gus Dominie in AB, Cecil (Ann) Dominey, Winston (Mabel) Dominie in NS, sisters-in-law Judy (Ervin) Francis, Shirley Keeping, and Trudi Dominie in NL as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Nora, her special Aunt Clara, her husband Walter, grandson Aiden, brothers -in-law Sandy Meikle, Reg Dominie, Gerald Dominie, James Francis, and Hiram Keeping , sisters-in-law Maude Francis ,  Bessie Dominie and Mabel Dominie.

The family would like to send a sincere thank you to all of the wonderful staff of 3-South at Corner Brook Long Term Care home who took such great care of Barbara during her time there.  She came to see you as not only care providers but friends and extended family and for that we are extremely grateful.

The funeral service will take place on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 11 am at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on St. Mark’s Avenue in Corner Brook with internment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.  The Reverend Cynthia Haines Turner officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to the MS Society.
