We were shocked today to hear the news of Bob’s passing. Terry has many memories of their ball playing days and working together at the mine in Baie Verte. I have such great memories of time spent with the Bowers family while growing in Baie Verte, and playing basketball with Bob.
Bob was a great ball player and a great friend.

Glynis and Family:
Saddened by the untimely and sudden passing of Bob; great memories of the Baie Verte days and the many hour spent together on the basketball court. Bob was a valuable member of the men's basketball team which won the provincial champion-ship in 1975. This was a noteworthy accomplishment for the small town of Baie Verte and made possible by the dedication of the players. Bob and family were great supporters of school and community activities.

Glynis, Steve, Jeff, Sue-Ann and families. Just dunno what to be saying here. Simply don't know. This news struck me like a ton of bricks when Michele told me a couple of days back. Having met Bob and you all in the 1990s in Churchill Falls, well, can safely say I have never met a nicer guy or nicer family. Have always thought the world of you all. Bob and I had a lot of fun, and laughs, at the Churchill Falls Curling Club. He was a fun guy to be around. Loved to curl. And was good at it. Loved his music. Loved his family like no other. Did Bob ever get mad? I never saw it. Big 'ole smile almost all the time. Even when he was serious. A couple of years ago he and I said we'd get together for a few laughs, maybe even a koool one, before long. That was on messenger. I just re-read it. Hard to do. Wow. I was so looking forward to that. Shame. So young. I wish you all the very best that can be in such times. You have to know Bob is a-smilin' down on you all and that he would not at all want you to be really down and sad for a prolonged period of time. Cherish the memories, Folks. Remember that big 'ole grin of his. Sincere condolences from Sadie and I.

Yvonne and I were extremely shocked and saddened to learn of Bob's sudden incident and passing. While we did not see one another often enough our friendship was still strong and it was always special when we did get together and shared a few drinks and many laughs. Yvonne and I are left with many cherished memories from days gone by. Glynis at times like this it is difficult to find the right words to express our feelings but please take some comfort in knowing that we care. Our condolences to all Bob’s family who were the most important people in his life. When Bob was younger he spent every minute enjoying his life and sharing that enjoyment with everyone. He was a high school classmate for a couple of years when he left his school to come to Beothuk Highschool he shared his love of sports and music with all of us then. From what I’ve read Bob continued sharing all his life. I saw Bob before he left to go to Alberta he came into Halifax with Glynis to visit my parents Pauline and Ralph Mitten, Glynis worked with my mom, a friend and colleague, in Baie Verte. I just want your large extended family to know Bob touched many people in his lifetime with a great sense of humor and respect. He will be missed and remembered well.
