Obituary of Selby ''Buster'' Gough

In Loving Memory of "Buster" Selby Gough Jr.

Selby Gough Jr., known most of his life as Buster, was a kind-hearted soul who touched the lives of many with his gentle nature and infectious sense of humour. He made friends easily and had a knack for recalling jokes.

Buster's love and skill for mechanics was evident from a young age when he built a car for his mother as a teenager. As a Red Seal mechanic, he honed his skills, eventually owning his own business where he meticulously obsessed over restoring vehicles, especially antiques.

Buster had a love for old music and animals, and he often shared the story of taming a crow in his childhood. Despite battling illness, he passed peacefully in his sleep at the Western Memorial Long-Term Care Facility in Corner Brook. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the facility, especially his long-time friend and caregiver, Kelso Sheppard, and Gary McCarthy, for their compassionate care.

Beyond his work, Buster enjoyed camping, fishing, and chatting with loved ones. He is survived by his daughter Dawn (Ryan Pitts), son Mark (Brenda Rodway), mother of his children Maureen Gough, sister Zellah Battiste, and brother-in-law Eric Blakely. Buster is now reunited with his mother Ida, father Selby Sr., sister Laura "Babe" Blakely, brother-in-law Joe Battiste, Mother and father-in-law Lloyd and Peggy Gardner, and cousin Glenn Gough.

As Buster embarks on his final journey, we find solace in the thought that he is finally at peace, free from pain and suffering. In his honour, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Corner Brook SPCA.

Visitation to celebrate Buster's life will be held at Fillatre's Funeral Home on St. Marks Avenue in Corner Brook on Wednesday, February 14^th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
