Obituary of Mildred Martha Montague

Please share a memory of Mildred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mildred Montague announce her passing on February 16th, 2024, at Long Term Care, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL at the age of 94 years.

Predeceased by her parents: Austin and Florence (nee Flowers) Montague; brothers: Jerry, Austin, Herman, Lester, and Wilbert; sisters: Rose (and husband, Bernard Chaulk),and Bertha (and husband Kenneth Smith).

Leaving to mourn her brother: Eric Montague (Phyllis Simms); sister: Carol Lakata (Elmer); sisters-in-law: Winnie Curl-Montague and Rose Nuna-Montague, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and a large complex web of extended Montague family.

As Millie wished, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will happen later at a time and place to be determined.

Millie enjoyed excellent health throughout her life, which may be due in part to her determination for a daily walk, no matter the weather. She lived independently until her 90th year which is when she moved into the Labrador Grenfell Health Long Term Care Center.

In keeping with her Montague genes, Millie loved music. She was always up for a dance at the North West River Beach Festival or whenever the opportunity presented itself.

She was known to be quite the hand at playing darts even well into her senior years. In her 82nd year she was proud to receive an Honorary Member Certificate from the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Dart League, a testament to her long-lasting commitment.

The family would like to thank the staff at Long Term Care for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Millie throughout her years as a resident. Your kindness and patience will not be forgotten.
