It is with a very heavy heart that I learned of Jacqueline's passing. I've only known Jacqueline for a short time, but during that short time she certainly left a big impression on me. When I first met her she was fast into the process of cutting up celery to make a pot of homemade soup. She had several large bowls of wild apples fermenting on the island. She was using the apples to make natural medicines to help with some of her ailments.
She was doing all this despite the fact that her home had suffered a chimney fire . The fire had rendered her furnace unusable. The fire and loss of heating didn't seem to bother her too much. With only two small electric space heaters and temperatures in her home near freezing she was pushing through the intense pain of her illness to cook soup and make natural medicines....She never stopped!
She may have been small in stature but she was certainly big on life! She loved the outdoors and lived nature. Despite her health concerns and subsequent diagnosis she still tried her level best to push forward for a simple natural lifestyle that she enjoyed so much.
Simply knowing her helped reinforce an age old idea. We are often concerned and influenced by things we view a "big things" in life. We let these things influence our lifestyle and stress levels. At the end of the day its often the simple "little things" in life that matter most of all. Jacqueline certainly enjoyed the little things!
She reminds me of a saying I've sometimes heard. It goes like this: Life is not about the number of breaths we take.... life is about the number of moments that take our breath away!
It has been my absolute privilege to have known her. I hope she finds the love and the peace she so very much deserves.
To Jacqueline's family and friends, please accept my most sincere condolences for your tremendous loss!
With Sympathy:
