Gerald Roderick Coley
April 14,1946 – March 1,2024
Burgeo, NL
It is with profound sadness and shattered hearts that the family of Gerald Coley announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Gerald passed peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024 with his family by his side at the Calder Health Care Centre in Burgeo, NL at the age of 77.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his beloved wife of almost 50 years Rosie, daughter Cherise (Perry), son Chas (Cheryl) and his most prized possessions; his granddaughters Madison, Jordyn, Chelsea, and another grandchild on the way. He also leaves to mourn his sister Eleanor (Calvin), sisters-in-law Marjorie, Minnie, Judy, Una, Louise, Rhoda, Erna, and brother-in-law George (Loureen) as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents Bessie and Ward, parents-in-law Gladys and Clem, sisters Ada (Bruce), and Francis (Frank), sister-in-law Linda (Irvin), brothers Henry, John William, Ron (Mary), George, Max, and brothers-in-law John, Cecil, and Tony.
Gerald was born on April 14, 1946 in Burgeo, NL with the most beautiful blue eyes you’ve ever seen. Gerald married the love of his life, Rosie, on August 7, 1974. Gerald loved working on the boats and after they got married, Gerald stayed close to home to work on the draggers. Gerald always liked to keep busy and would often be found in his workshop, storehouse, or driving around town. Gerald enjoyed getting together with friends for a card game (but not on Sundays) or playing solitaire on his computer. Gerald was a family man and later in life loved to visit his family in Alberta and spend his time with “Poppy’s girls”. The family is comforted in knowing that they were able to spend these last few precious weeks with him when he needed them the most.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff at Calder Health Care for the care he received over the last month. The family wishes to extend their utmost gratitude to all the close family and friends that have provided support throughout this difficult time.
A service will be held at a later date.
