Obituary of Gillian Thomson

Francis Gillian Hope (Lefevre) Thomson passed away early the morning of April 2, 2024  in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. She passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long life filled with adversities and triumphs. She will be missed but the value she brought to all who knew her will never be forgotten and will be cherished always. She was a woman who spoke her mind, but never with malice. She loved her family more than anyone else ever could.

She is survived by her sons Richard (Heather), Peter, Robert, Chris (Lesley), special daughter Yuki Kurata and her 7 grandchildren, Matthew (Brooke), Elizabeth (Zack), Mackenzie, Keegan (Chelsea), Connor, Harrison & Grayson.

She is predeceased by her husband Rev Richard J. Thomson, her father Frank E. Lefevre, her mother Hope (Galloway) Lefevre, her sister Susan Lefevre and brother Andrew Lefevre.

From their first date over hot chocolate and a dutchie, Mum and Dad cherished their next 59 years together.  Through faith and perseverance, she raised 4 boys and cherished all 7 grandchildren.  Mum was able to fulfill a long time dream by graduating with her RN in 1996.

We would like to thank the staff of Mountainview House for all the loving care that they provided Mum over the years and the exceptional care the staff of Western Regional Memorial Hospital, Wing 3D, has provided to her.  Also, a special thank you to Jenetta Butler for the years of exceptional home care.

Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home 4 St. Mark’s Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held on  Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm from St. James Church in Lark Harbour followed by interment at the church cemetery. In leu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Western Regional Hospital Foundation.
