When we close our eyes, we see a woman whose warmth, grace, and affection have forever touched our hearts. Our souls are adorned with countless precious moments shared with her ❤.
My journey intertwined with Nannie Joan's around 1979 when Brenda, united our lives by marrying my father, Stan. Introduced to us as Nannie Joan, through the next 45 years, Nannie embraced all five Cooper girls, now her beloved (step) granddaughters, and paved the way for eight (step) great-grandchildren and ten (step) great-great-grandchildren. Her boundless love transcended all near and long-distance barriers, enveloping us always with open arms and an infinite heart—a love that epitomized the true essence of family and unconditional acceptance.
As a young girl and new mother living in Calgary, I often sought Nannie's guidance for recipes. She not only shared the ingredients but also guided me with meticulous steps to recreate her personal culinary masterpieces flawlessly. I hold dear many of her recipes penned in my own handwriting, but her pineapple squares hold a special place in my heart. Every time I prepare them, I am met with praises for Nannie Joan’s delectable pineapple squares! Now as we say goodbye to her, Nannie Joan's legacy of love and culinary expertise lives on in each savory bite, a testament to her enduring presence in all our lives.
With a beautiful soul always brimming with love, Nannie was truly a remarkable individual, possessing the gentlest spirit and a boundless wellspring of kindness that not only touched my life but also resonated deeply with all who had the privilege of knowing her. Eight years later, in 1988, I returned home and I got to know her even more. Her soft-spoken words carried a wealth of wisdom and solace, offering comfort to all who sought her counsel. Beyond her physical beauty, Nannie's inner radiance illuminated the world, serving as a beacon of inspiration for all who crossed her path. Even in the face of illness, whenever we visited, she carried herself with grace and strength. A legacy of her boundless love never faltering in her patience and unwavering kindness will forever be treasured.
So, rest peacefully, dear Nannie Joan, knowing that your enduring love and gentle kindness will endure in the hearts of all who were touched by your luminous spirit.
