Obituary of Leo Stephen MacDonald
Leo Stephen MacDonald
Heatherton, NL
December 30, 1947 – April 7, 2024
It is with sad hearts that the family of Leo MacDonald announce his passing on April 7, 2024 at Bay St. George Long Term Care Facility in Stephenville Crossing after a long battle with dementia.
Leo leaves to mourn his loving wife of 54 years Sharon, his son Bob (Gloria), daughters Kim (Ted) and Holly, grandchildren Hope (Chuck), Cameron, Danielle, Meaghan, Hannah and Zackary, and his great grandchildren Brianna and Malcolm. His Brothers Paul (Pat) and Jimmy, and sisters Ann (Max) Gallant and Elenor(Brent) Madore. Also a large circle of in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He is predecessed by his parents Bill and Ethel, brothers Robert and Billy, and his son in- law Jeff Piccott.
Leo was a kind soul who saw the good in everyone and thought everyone deserved respect and a chance. He didn’t believe in counting peoples’ mistakes, but he was more than glad to celebrate their accomplishments. He was a dedicated worker; spending much of his time on the highway driving transport truck. He enjoyed hunting, salmon fishing, music, classic cars, western movies and most of all, a good, long chat. Leo loved his wife and family whole-heartedly and his “Hopey” was the apple of his eye. He could often be found with Sharon and children (grandchildren in his later years) setting a snare or trying for a trout. And if he didn’t have time from work, they were always welcome to come along for a ride in transport. Everyone should be so fortunate to have such a loving and supportive partner/father/grandfather.
The family extends a multitude of thanks to the staff of BSG Long term care. Your kindness, dedication, and compassion was so special. Poppy’s family will never forget you all. Special thanks to Theresa and Ashley; angels on earth.
Respecting Leo’s wishes cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bay St.George Long Term Care, Stephenville Crossing, NL
