It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret “Thelma” Dunphy announce her passing on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the age of 83 years.
She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Sharon Darrigan (Don), Joseph Dunphy (Tracy), Michael Dunphy, Janice Peddle (Jamie), and Colin Buckle (Christina); grandchildren: Christina Darrigan Skinner, Keith Dunphy, Stephen Darrigan, Jeremy Darrigan, Taylor Ledrew, Rylin Peddle, Elisha Dunphy, Abby Dunphy, Anna Peddle, Wyatt Dunphy, Evelyn Buckle, Arthur Buckle, and Grayson Dunphy; 8 great grand-children; sister and best friend; Elizabeth Payne (George Payne); special sister-in-law and best friend; Gloria Christopher; loving sister-in-law; Christina Christopher, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her first husband: Terrance Dunphy; second husband: James Buckle; parents: Fred and Evelyn Christopher; sisters: Juanita and Ramona Urbenz; brothers: Fred Christopher, Dermont Christopher, Edwin Christopher, and Malcolm Christopher; niece: Juanita Brake; and nephew: Blaine Christopher.
Thelma was a kind and loving mother, spouse, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to all who knew her.
Thelma loved her family and friends unconditionally and lived life to the fullest. She never failed to put a smile on the faces of others whether with her thoughtfulness or her unique sense of humor. Through her home cooked meals, words of affection, her stories or her songs she connected with ease to those around her and brought joy to many lives.
Thelma will be missed by her loved ones immensely, however, they will honor her memory by living each day, as she would hope, finding the humor and joy in life's precious moments.
The family would like to warmly thank the physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals at Western Memorial Regional Hospital who cared for Thelma with great compassion and dedication in the last months and weeks of her life. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
A visitation for family and friends will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from the hours of 2-4 pm & 7-9pm.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Thelma’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
