Bernard David Durnford (Bernie)
It is with broken hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our Beloved Bernie. He went to join his pride and joy in heaven on April 12, 2024. He passed away at the Long Term Care, Calder Health Care Center in his hometown of Burgeo, age 53 years.
Leaving to mourn his loving and devoted parents: John and Rita Durnford; brothers: Barry (Tina), Fabian (Charlene); and sister: Paula (Don); nephews: Adrian, Morgan, Eric, and great-nephew: Maverick as well as a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who meant a lot to him from Corner Brook, where he lived for 22 years.
Predeceased by his only child, Daniel at birth but Daria at death;
his grandparents: John and Alice Spencer, Hubert and Lucy Durnford; uncle: Morgan Durnford; special aunt: Ena Hull who was like a second mother; great-nephews: baby Jax Benoite and baby Kolten Benoite.
Bernie was a kind soul who cared about others more than himself. He always asked "How are you?". We will miss him forever and ever. HE LOVED US AND WE LOVED HIM. He only lived to be 53, but he had a great impact on many lives. He had so much love for his only child and I’m sure that was a beautiful reunion in heaven.
We would like to thank Westmount Estates in Corner Brook, the Long Term Care staff and Doctor’s in Burgeo for caring for Bernie since 2020.
In keeping with Bernie's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at his childhood home, his parents house in Burgeo from the hours of 2-4 and 6-8pm on Monday, April 15. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 16 at 2:00pm from St. John the Evangelist Church in Burgeo. Interment at a later date.
