Dorothy Cloda Brown

(nee Myrden)

October 21, 1931 – April 27, 2024

Corner Brook, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dorothy Cloda Brown (nee Myrden) announce her passing on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Corner Brook Long Term Care at the age of 92 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Deborah (Clayton); one brother Jim; as well as many nieces, nephews, and one surviving member of the lunch brunch Marion Matthews.

She was predeceased by her husband David Brown, parents Alex and Lillian Myrden, parents-in-law Vivian and Charlie Brown, siblings Derek, Gerald, Barney, Jack, Lorraine, Dallas, Joe and infants Gwendolyn and Harold.

In life Dorothy loved music, curling, card clubs, bowling, and watching all sports. She loved her cottage at Eastern Brook, where she found rest and relaxation. She was a member of IODE, ACW, Kinettes, also enjoyed teaching Sunday School and being a leader of the Guiding Movement. She was an avid volunteer in New Brunswick, Quebec, Nova Scotia, Grand Falls, and here in Corner Brook, all places that she resided over her lifetime. She loved to knit, crochet, and especially cook and bake for friends and neighbors. Her home was open to everyone, and nothing made her smile more than someone dropping in for tea and of course a piece of her cake. She was one of the founding members of the first Newfoundland Club in Montreal. She put a lot of living into the years she was given.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m. from The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Main Street with The Most Rev. Percy Coffin, The Very Rev. Catherine Short and The Rev. Canon Tanya White. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the family or the Carion Fenn Foundation.
