Obituary of Bessie Bernice Acreman
It is with heavy hearts and incredible sadness that we announce the passing of Bessie Bernice Acreman, a devoted wife, loving mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and loyal friend. Bessie passed away on May 26, 2024, at the age of 74 years, just 5 days shy of her 75th birthday and their 58th wedding anniversary, at the Long Term Care Facility in Happy Valley Goose Bay, surrounded by her husband and all 5 children, her sister Ivy, as well as other close family.
Bessie’s entire life was her family and she spent her days providing a loving and nurturing home for, not only her immediate family, but also for many others that passed through throughout the years. She loved to make people happy and her favorite way to do so was through food. She was a devoted wife for almost 58 years, and was blessed with 4 sons and one daughter, all of whom she adored. She was further blessed in life with 16 grandchildren/great-grandchildren, and she cherished every moment she spent with them.
During her lifetime, Bessie spent countless hours volunteering in her community and was a very active and long-time member of the Anglican Church Women. She was, also, a devoted and loyal friend and was loved by so many. Her beautiful smile will never be forgotten.
Bessie was predeceased by her parents, William and Ethel Rumbolt, at a very young age; her mother and father-in-law, Mary and John Acreman, brothers-in-law Raymond and Peter Acreman, sisters-in-law Dora Rumbolt and Judy Acreman. Leaving to mourn, with fondest and most loving memories, are her husband, Eric, sons, Glen (Valerie), Brent (Tracy), Craig (Lorna), Neil (Paula), and only daughter Connie (Jason). Also, left to mourn, are her many grandchildren; Ty, Irelyn, Shauna, Tanner, Noah, Crytal, Ryan, Mark, Joshua, Devin and Makayla, as well as her great-grandchildren Emma, Ethan, Fabian, Aleah and James, sister Ivy and Brother Wayne as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bessie will be held at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church in Mary’s Harbour with visitation until 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 28th, 2024. Funeral services will be held on May 29th at 3 p.m., directly followed by a celebration of life at the Raymond C. Memorial Center. Cremation will be conducted by Fillatre’s Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made to the local Harbourview Manor in her memory.
