Obituary of Anthony (Tony) Gerard McCarthy

Tony McCarthy

February 13, 1961 – June 15, 2024

Mount Moriah, NL

It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Tony McCarthy announce his sudden passing on Saturday, June 15^th, 2024 in his 63^rd year.  Leaving to mourn are his beloved wife of 40 years, Pam McCarthy; cherished children  Deborah (Bryan) Lavallee and Tony Jr., his three grandchildren who were Pop’s world; Kyah Goold, Liam  and Nash Lavallee; Kyah’s father Kevin Goold; brother John  (Patsy) McCarthy, sister  Debbie (Bruce) Evans, sisters-in-law Patricia Piwtorak, Paula Carroll, Kim (Danny) Snooks and Jackie (Dave) Corcoran; brother-in-law Wayne (Ruth) Carroll; as well as several nieces, nephews and close family and friends.

 He was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Paula McCarthy, sister Judy and parents-in-law Patrick and Evelyn Carroll.

Tony loved spending time at his cabin with his family, especially fishing with his little buddies. He loved hearing Kyah play guitar and sing. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.  His family was everything to him and he took great pride in them, which was easy to see.  He was kind and thoughtful with a smile that lit up every room he entered.  He was the first person there when a family member or friend needed anything. He will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched and all of the wonderful memories created through the years.

Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Wednesday, June 19^th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will held on Thursday, June 20^th at 2 PM from Sacred Heart Parish with Father Ed Terry officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
