It is with great sadness that the family of Verna Mary Quigley Taylor Brake announce her passing, on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Western Long Term Care Home’s Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook at the age of 86 years. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband: Hayward Brake; children: Guy (Sandra), Paul, Aubrey (Julie), Joseph, Philip, and Christopher; 15 grandchildren: Jeffrey, Jillian, Jarvis, Benjamin, Sophie, Gavin, Brianna, Melissa, Cassandra, Courtney, Casey, Kevin, Erica, Jordan, Owen; 3 great-grandchildren: Jesse, Colby, Casey; Siblings: Mel (Helen), Ken (Mae), Hedley (Bernice), Kay (Clarence), Cora, Boyd (Elaine), Wayne (Norma), Floyd (Wanda), Barbara (Norm), Gladys (Rune), Helen (Dennis); Sibling in-laws: Cassie (Cyril – deceased), Warren (Sylvia), Allan (Joyce Anne), Minnie (Bud) Lancaster, Esther, Delphine (Cassie), Weldon, and Darrell (Joanne).

Verna was pre-deceased by her parents: Thomas Quigley and Anita Taylor, and step-father Heeman Taylor, brothers: Kevin (Margaret - surviving), Alfred (Sandra - surviving), Ralph, and David; grandson: William; great-grandson: Rylan; Sibling in-laws: Joan (Warren), Samuel (Irene), Myles (Barbara - surviving), and Jubilee.

Visitations for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 26, from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9pm, as well as on Thursday, June 27, from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Meadows. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 28 at 2:00pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Meadows with Rev. George Critchell and Rev. Terry Loder officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and Nursing staff of Western Memorial Regional Hospital, the Emergency Department, and The Palliative Care Unit. The family would also like to give a special thank you to grandson Jeffery Brake.
