Obituary of Doris Elizabeth Howell

Doris Elizabeth Howell 

Stephenville Crossing, NL

April 7, 1942 – June 26, 2024 

Doris Elizabeth Howell “nee Bishop” passed away on June 26, 2024 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, NL in her 82^nd year. 

She will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Lisa (David) McFatridge of Fort McMurray, AB, Susan Howell (Vernon Lesofski) of Stephenville Crossing, and Leah (James) Puff of Saint John, NB. Her wonderful grandchildren: Robinson McFatridge (Meagan) of Stephenville Crossing, Jessica McFatridge (Adam) of Fort McMurray, AB, Victoria, Olivia and Logan Puff, Saint John, NB. Her precious great grandchildren: Kayden, Jack and Everleigh McFatridge, and Ariana Firmage. Her special furbaby Ozzie. Her only surviving sister Vera (Robert) Sexton. Her best friends Sheila Hynes, Nina Osmond, and Debbie White. Her in-laws, Dorothy Kennedy, Roy and Pauline Howell, Glenda and John Langer and Jean Howell. 

Doris was predeceased by her husband Max Howell, parents Harvey and Lavinia Bishop, brothers Calvin, Harvey and Raymond Bishop, and sister Norma Warren.  Her parents in-law Claude and Irene Howell, brothers in-law, Woodrow & Eileen Howell, Ron Howell, and sister in-law Jean and James Jewer. 

Mom was an avid quilter and her passion was sewing. She enjoyed spending time with her quilting friends, as well as her card playing buddies. She was also very active in church and spent many days cooking and baking for the many functions there. 

Our family would like to say a special thank you to the 4^th floor, WMRH, Doctors and staff as well as the ICU Doctors and staff for their deep compassion and care during Mom’s final moments. 

Viewing will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing on Wednesday, July 3^rd from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. 

Funeral service will take place on Thursday, July 4^th at 2 pm from All Saint’s Anglican Church, Main Street, Stephenville Crossing, Reverend Tanya White officiating.  Cremation will take place following the service. Inurnment will take place on July 12^th at 2 pm, Mount Patricia Anglican Cemetery, Corner Brook, NL.
