William Anthony Madore
November 20, 1938 – July 9, 2024
It is with overwhelming heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) Anthony Madore on July 9, 2024, affectionately known to many as “Pop”. Pop was born in St. George’s, NL on November 20, 1938, and lived most of his life in Corner Brook.
Pop was a dedicated community supporter and contributed enormous effort in his days with Rotary International, John Howard Society, Public Appeals Board, Corner Brook Winter Carnival, past-president of Marble Mountain/Corner Brook Ski Club (during which time Marble got its first chairlift and path to substantial growth), past vice-chairman of Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation. He was also involved in many insurance Associations where he spent all of his career. Pop was also a long-time volunteer with the PC Party and gave endless hours supporting campaigns.
It is difficult to explain the hole Pop will leave in our lives. It only took one encounter to know him for his jokes, his wit, his comradery. It was intoxicating. Speaking of intoxicating. He was always positive, and he would want us to reflect on the good.
Hiking – it was his passion. As a family we would hike up Marble Mountain or Gros Morne every fall. It was a big deal. Pop loved his hikes!
Salmon fishing – always a joy of Dad’s to get out on the river. May 24 meant let’s go fishing and camping. We all loved it.
Pop leaves to mourn his daughter Anna Marie – who he resided with, son Bill /Wanda, grandchildren Jessica/Rob, Adrianna and Andrew (to whom Pop had a special bond)/Melissa, great-granddaughter Goldie, his longtime friend Patricia Walsh along with a long list of other family and friends too many to mention.
Pop is now reuniting with all his predeceased family and friend and we’re sure he’ll have his book of jokes they haven’t yet heard. We will always remember!
Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 15, 2024 at Most Holy Redeemer Church on Mt. Bernard Ave, Corner Brook at 2:00 p.m.. Cremation has already taken place.
A separate celebration of life will take place at a later date to be announced.
No flowers by request please.
