It is with great sadness that the family of George A. Soper announce his passing on Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010 at the age of 83 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 56 years, Hilda (nee: Darrigan); sons Rodger, Gregory (Gladys) and Jeffrey. Daughter Leah (James) and one grandchild Ashley. Brothers Leonard of Fort Myers, Florida and Gerald (Mary) Butts of Brockton, MA, and sisters Sadie Slade of Carbonear, Helen (William) Meaney of Freemont, California.Step –sisters Molly Tobin of Corner Brook, Nellie Murphy of Stephenville. Sister-in-law Ada (John) O’Reilly, Maisie Warford & Marilyn Darrigan, brother-in-law Spencer (Rachael) Darrigan, as well as a large circle of nephews, nieces and friends. He is predeceased by his parents John & Marion (nee: Kelloway) Soper of Carbonear, brother John Soper, step brothers Michael & William Murphy, father –in-law Jeremiah & Rose Darrigan of Corner Brook. The funeral service will be held Monday, June 7th at 2:00 p.m. from Memorial United Church, Curling Street Reverend Clayton Parsons officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home 218 Curling Street Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Memorial United Church.
