The family of the late Gerald Fleming wish to announce his peaceful passing at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, NL on August 23, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Gerald leaves to mourn his loving wife of 57 years, Cecilia. Sons, Michael, wife Leanne and daughter Isabelle; Shane and his children Jada and Ryder. His brothers Nicholas (Judy) Fleming of St. George’s, NL; Jim (Aggie) Fleming of Stephenville, NL. His sisters Mary (Richard) Lane of Mechanicsville, VA; Theresa Temple (Noel) of St. John’s, NL, and his sister in-law Et Fleming of Stephenville, NL. Brothers’ in-law Gerry (Micheline) Russell of Kitchener, ON; Wayne (Rosann) Rusell of Stephenville, NL; Francis Russell of Kippens, NL; Sean (Sheila) Russell of Sackville, NS; and sister in-law Marie Joyce of Stephenville, NL. Along with many nieces, nephews and other close friends.

Gerald was predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Gertrude (nee Howard) Fleming. Father and mother in-law Nolan and Mary Russell. His brothers, Edward, Wayne, Gerry (Viola) and his sister Maureen Powers.

The family would like to thank Community Support nurses, Katie and Shauna, and social worker Stephanie for all your support during Gerald’s illness. To the Maximum Home Support workers, Juanita, Linda and Sarah, thank you for all your help and support over these last few weeks in keeping Gerald home for as long as possible. To the staff at Reliable Ambulance and Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, for such care and compassion in Gerald’s final hours.

Service at St. Stephen's Church, Saturday, September 21, 2024 @ 1:30 p.m..with Fr. Joseph officiating. Interment to follow at the Hillside Interfaith Cemetery, Roman Catholic.
