It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Samuel Robert Maxwell Collier announce his passing on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the Calder Health Care Centre in Burgeo at the age of 91.

Max was born in Otters Point, NL and moved to Burgeo at the age of 8 where he remained and raised his family with his wife Elizabeth. He was an inshore fisherman and had the first truck ever in Burgeo where he helped deliver freight, and as dad would say he even brought women to hospital to have their babies. Max loved socializing at dances, cards and darts and was known for his quick wit and sense of humour.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his daughters Maxine Vatcher (Ed), Georganne Ricketts (Terry), his pride and joy - his grandchildren: Brock Vatcher (Jennifer) and Ashley Ricketts, as well as brother in law George Ball (Joan) and other extended family and friends.

Max is predeceased by his wife Elizabeth, parents Charles and Lillian, siblings Bertha, William, Ada, Marion, Nora, Susie and Fred.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Calder Health Care Centre for his care over the last 4 years.

Visitation will take place at Faith United Church, Burgeo, NL on Friday September 6th from 2 -4 pm and 7-9 pm.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7th at 11 am with Rev. Matchem officiating. Interment to follow at the Burgeo Community Cemetery.
