Obituary of Mona Almora Davis
Mona A. Davis
November 7, 1935 - September 6, 2024
Pasadena, NL
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful mother Mona Davis (nee Patey), Friday, September 6th, 2024, age 88, at the Palliative Care Unit, Corner Brook. She is predeceased by her husband Gerald, her parents Caroline and Hubert, sisters Rita, Laverne, Edith and brothers Lawrence and Dennis.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of precious memories are her children Elaine Goosney (Paul) Pasadena, Phyllis Bowers (Claude) Springdale, Brenda Power (Steve) New Market, and Gerry Davis (Shellie) Pasadena. Her grandchildren Mark (Sarah), Scott (Ashley), Matthew (Samantha), Andrew, Caroline (Jake) and Nicholas. Her great grandchildren Isla, Owen, Anna, Lauren and Casey, brother Barry, sisters Leila, Yvonne and Donna.
Mona was born in River of Ponds and moved to Corner Brook when she was 18 years old. She worked in the Sanatorium where she met and married our Dad. They raised 4 children in our family home on Country Road. Over her life she worked at Goodyear and House, Humber Pharmacy and her favorite job, working in the SPD Department at Western Memorial Hospital.
Mona was a very active person all of her life. She cross country skied until she was 82. One of her greatest passions was gardening. She was a skilled knitter, crafter and baker. She was a person who could turn her hand to anything.
She enjoyed times at the cabin in Bonne Bay Pond, spending time with friends and family and a good game of cards.
The family would like to recognize and thank the staff at Westmount Estates where she lived for the past 6 months. A very special thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care unit for the care and compassion shown to our Mom and our family over the last couple of days. Your professionalism, support, and kindness is deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, Sept 10, at 1pm at St. Davids Anglican Church Pasadena, followed by a service at 2pm., officiated by Rev. Kris Gosse, with interment at the Anglican Cemetery, Church Street. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the charity of ones choice.
