It is with profound sadness that we the family announce the passing of Edward Joseph King at Western Memorial Regional Hospital Palliative Care unit on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the age of 90. Ed was three days shy of his 91^st birthday.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his daughter: Denise (Rick) of Winnipeg; 4 sons: Brian (Ivy), Sean (Shannon), Kenny, and Kerry, all of Corner Brook; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; his sister Alice (Ray) of Ontario; brother: Ken (Madonna) of Pasadena; son-in-law: Jerry, as well as a large circle of family of friends. He also leaves to mourn his loving friend of 50 years Mary Companion and her family.

Ed was predeceased by his wife Valetta (Ball), his parents James and Margaret Eldridge/King, his loving daughter Barbara, his brothers: Jim, Gerald, Vincent, George, and John. His sisters: Mary, Loretta, Marion, Cathy, and Geraldine.

Ed was a longtime employee of the Newfoundland Telephone Company where he worked for over 30 years. He was known for his love of baking bread and cooking for his family, in his later years Ed enjoyed cooking in the hunting lodges for the American hunters. Ed was a member of the Seniors Echo Club where he played darts, cards, and he loved to attend their Saturday night dances with Mary. He will forever be remembered for his witty sense of humour.

Family and friends may visit Fillatre Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Monday, September 23^rd from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9PM. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, September 24^th at 10:00AM at All Hallows Parish, 109 Humber Road, with Father Edward Terry officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. A Celebration of Ed’s life will take place at the Legion on West Street from 12-4PM. Flowers will be graciously accepted, and memorial donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundations Cuddle Bed Project. His family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nurses at the Restorative Care unit and Palliative Care unit for their love and compassionate care shown to Ed, it will never be forgotten.
