Obituary of Hilda Sadie Lavers

September 1, 1945 - September 22, 2024

The family of the late Hilda Sadie Lavers (nee Plowman) sadly announce her passing Sunday 22, 2024 at the Rufus Guinchard Health Care Centre, Port Saunders, NL at the age of 79.

Hilda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her love for family was evident in her daily life from cooking meals, sharing a cup of tea with family and friends while always conveying a generous smile and a kind heart.  Hilda took  pleasure in a game of cards and playing bingo.  But her main love was the love of her life Joe, her husband of 58 years. They spent many hours together,  inseparable.   She made everyone feel welcome.   Hilda will be forever missed.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her 2 sons Vernon (Connie), Desmond (Jennifer); her step-daughter Jennie (Glen); her 6 grandchildren:  Kelly, Brendon, Benjamin, Jamie (Carol), Landon and Nathan; 2 great-grandchildren Zach and Luna; 1 great great grand-daughter Aailyah; sister Noreen Lowe; brother Everett Plowman; brother-in-law Martin Lowe; special nephew Stevie Atkins as well as a large circle of extended family and friends.

Hilda is predeceased by her loving husband Joseph Lavers; her mother and father, Lucy and Henry Plowman; step-father Mike Eastman; her siblings:  Olive, Clyde (Bertha), Olga, Edgar, Dolly (Jake), Alma, Marie, twin brother Henry, Jimmy and brother-in-law John Lowe.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Rufus Guinchard Health Care Centre for their kindness and compassion in caring for Hilda during her final days.  Also to the staff at Lane's Retirement Home in Port Saunders for their care and kindness over the past 19 months.

Visitation will take place at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Port au Choix, NL

Tuesday, September 24, 2024            7pm - 9pm

Wednesday, September 25, 2024       2pm - 4pm , 7pm - 9pm /  Family Service

Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 @ 2pm with Father Rossi officiating. Cremation to follow.  Interment to be at a later date.
