Obituary of Eric Joseph Hynes

September 1, 1958 - September 22, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of Eric Joseph Hynes announce his sudden passing on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the age of 66 years.  Leaving to mourn with fond and treasured memories is his wife of 45 years, Gertrude Hynes (nee Kennedy); his devoted sons: Morgan (Petra) Hynes, Grant Hynes and Barry (Shauna) Hynes; his cherished grandchildren:  Reagan, Bryce, Taryn, Noah, Alyssa and Brailee; his siblings:  Carolyn (Charlie) Brushett, Debbie (Ernie) Power, Alfred (Candy) Hynes, Darren (Katie) Hynes, Ruby (John) Lawerence, Amanda (Trevor) Sheppard, Thomas (Lisa) Hynes.  Eric will also be fondly rememberd by his nieces and nephews, as well as a large number of extended family and friends.

Eric is predeceased by his son, Joshua Kevin Hynes; mother Mildred Lucas; step-father Jerry Lucas; father Bernard Hynes; parents-in-law Kevin and Julia Kennedy; brothers-in-law:  Barry Kennedy, Jeffrey Kennedy and Harry Cormier Sr. 

Eric was the type of person that when you first met him you were likely greeted with a statement similar to " Well, you got it, don't ya?" Followed by, "that stupid look on your face."  Then without fail he let out a contagious laugh that made you absolutely need to laugh along with him and want to flatten him all at the same time.  He was always there to lend a hand or get his hands dirty in whatever was going on.  He lived for foolishness and carrying on, especially with his grandkids.  He was also known for tidying away things so well they'd never be seen again.  He loved and lived for his family; his wife Gertie, his sons and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. 

Eric, the world is a much sadder, quieter place with you gone.  We love and miss you forever and always.

Visitation will take place at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street, Corner Brook, NL.

Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 1pm - 4pm /  Prayers by Father Terry & 7pm - 9pm

Cremation will follow.
