Obituary of Shirley Alfreda Hefler

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Shirley Alfreda Hefler announces her passing on September 23rd, 2024, at the Labrador Health Centre, Happy Valley—Goose Bay, NL, at the age of 85.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children, Darlene (Bill) Mackey, Brenda (Tony) Dawson, Jennifer (Martin) Elson, and Darryl (Vanessa) Hefler; grandchildren, Darren (Erica), Patrick (Taylor), Katelyn (Brad), Ethan, Heather, Christopher (Melissa), Johnathan (Aaron), Scott (Rebecca), Terry, Alicia, Aimee (Dawson), and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Hailie, Jordyn, Zoe, Brody, Caydence, Carter, Nicholas, Brayden, Noah, Owen, Jewel, Khloe, Haydn, Elsie, Aubrey, Sophie, Jayden and Evan; brother, Derrick (Judy) Chaulk; sister-in-law, Bertha Chaulk, as well a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives, and very special friends.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Vilroy Hefler; son, Michael Olin Hefler; parents, Ida and Olin Chaulk; Minnie and George Hefler; brother, Morris Chaulk; and sister, Lily Chaulk.

Shirley loved her family and friends deeply. She loved to have visits with them for an enjoyable meal, a delicious dessert, a few songs, and lots of laughter.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024, at Fillatre Funeral Home, Happy Valley - Goose Bay, NL, from the hours of 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 29th, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Happy Valley—Goose Bay, NL, with Rev. Nellie Thomas officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery.

Due to sensitivities to scent, the family is unable to accept fresh flowers for her service. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to St. Andrew’s Anglican church.

The family would like to thank everyone who came to visit; also thank you to all the medical staff that cared for mom during her time at the Labrador Health Centre.
