July 5, 1957 – October 19, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Elizabeth McLean announce her passing on October 19, 2024 at the age of 67 years. 

Elizabeth was married to her husband, Hughie, for 51 years. Together they built a home filled with love and laughter with their most prized possessions, their 2 children and 3 grandchildren. 

Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents Mary and Walter Young, brother Ronald Young, and best friend Calvin Linthorne. 

She leaves to mourn her husband Hughie, son Kirk McLean (Cynthia), daughter Kimberly Nolan (Bradley); her grandchildren Tyra Nolan (Michael Young), Kyle McLean (Cheyanne Bennett), and Isabella Nolan (Landin Bennett). Although not her grandchildren by kin, Elizabeth leaves her favourite buddy, William Warren and his new baby brother, Noah, Riley Brumsey who was like a grandson to her: siblings: Richard Young (Christine), Dorothy Garnier (Curtis), Brenda Barron, and Francine Conway (Joe); her best friend forever, Shelly Sullivan, who Liz always enjoyed laughing with and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Elizabeth’s greatest joys in life included spending time at her cabin in Flat Bay Brook, cooking while surrounded by her family. 

Her greatest pride was her grandchildren. Whether it was playing marbles or having “bud fights” at the cabin, packing lunches, or chatting on the phone, her time and mind was always with her grandkids. She always was, and always will be their biggest cheerleader. And she will forever want them to “reach for the stars.”

Respecting Elizabeth’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Visitation on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Fillatre's Funera Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL. Funeral service, Thursday, 2:00 p.m. October 24, 2024 at St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, St. George's with Rev. Norman Cutler officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
