Rosie Elizabeth Coley

August 11, 1957 – October 24, 2024

Burgeo, NL

It is with profound sadness and shattered hearts that the family of Rosie Coley announce the sudden passing of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Rose passed peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2024, with her daughter by her side at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL at the age of 67.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her daughter Cherise (Perry), son Chas (Cheryl) and her most prized possessions: Nanny’s angels Madison, Jordyn, Chelsea, and Christopher. She also leaves to mourn her beloved sister Louise, brother George (Loureen), sisters-in-law Marjorie, Minnie, Judy, Una, Rhoda, Erna, and Eleanor (Calvin) as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Rosie was met in Heaven with loving open arms by her husband of 50 years, Gerald and her beloved pup, Mugsy. Rosie was predeceased by her parents Gladys and Clem, parents-in-law Bessie and Ward, sister Linda (Irvin), brothers John and Cecil, sisters-in-law Ada (Bruce), Francis (Frank), and brothers-in-law Henry, John William, Ron (Mary), George, Max, and Tony.

Rosie was born on August 11, 1957 in Burgeo, NL. She was the baby of the family and always made sure she was the life of the party. Rose married the love of her life, Gerald, on August 7, 1974  before moving to Labrador City for work. When they returned to Burgeo, Rose worked at the fish plant for many years and later did seasonal work in the camps in Northern Alberta. Rosie liked to keep busy and talking on the phone was a favourite pastime of hers. She would often be found on the phone in her chair while Gerald and Mugsy napped nearby. Rosie could keep a crowd entertained with her bold personality and silliness. She enjoyed bingo, cards, darts, and being around friends and family. Rosie loved to visit her family in Alberta and spend time with “Nanny’s angels”.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the healthcare and Fillatre’s staff for the care she received. The family wishes to extend their utmost gratitude to all family and friends who have provided support throughout this very difficult year.

A celebration of life for Rosie and Gerald will be held this summer on what would have been their 51st anniversary.
