It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gloria Lewis (nee Peddle) announce her passing on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 83 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, her husband Derek Lewis of 64 years; children, Debbie Aylward (Mike), Doug Lewis (Roxanne) and Lori Power (Darryl); brother Doug Peddle (Charlotte); grandchildren Lisa Halket (Jeff), Bradley Lewis, Glennis Lewis, Keith Lewis, Derek Lewis (Michelle), Crista Lewis, Brandon Alyward, Justin Alyward (Carradine), Bradley Power (Maddison) and Sarah Power (Ethan); great grandchildren Lilly and Julianna Lewis, Serenity, Scarlette, Selegnas and Ambrose Lewis, Mia and Daisy Lewis; sisters-in-law Minnie and Shirley Peddle; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her son Wayne, parents Hubert and Maude Peddle, mother-in-law Ruth Lewis, sisters and brothers Maxine Pinsent (Stewart), Frances Sansome (Cliff), Harvey Peddle, Jim Peddle, Maisie Vaters (George) and granddaughter Candice Lewis.
Gloria was kind and loving and being in the presence of her family brought her the most joy. She loved her children and grandchildren and was an important part of their daily lives. She worked as a Red Seal Cook at Western Memorial Hospital for many years. After retirement she embraced her Church and became an intricate part of hosting and catering their church functions. She was a member of the ACW and enjoyed playing cards with the Seniors Card group. She loved to follow her grandson’s hockey teams, and watching all of her grandchildren’s sporting events, and she especially enjoyed watching the Royals. She took comfort in playing cards with her friends and visiting the cabin with Derek. Although our hearts are broken, we will forever hold on to our memories of her as she watches over us.
We would like to extend gratitude and thanks to Western Memorial Hospital, the nurses and staff on 5c, Doctors Leon Ntambwe, Dr. Mahmood and a very special thank you to Peggy Clothier for your unwavering comfort and support.
Friends and family may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Monday, November 4th from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place from St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Curling on Tuesday, November 5th at 2:00 p.m. with The Venerable David Taylor and Reverend Cynthia Haines -Turner officiating. Cremation will follow with inurnment at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to St. Mary’s Anglican Church Memorial fund.
