Carl Malcolm Charles Oldford, age 73 years of Goose Bay, NL passed peacefully away at home on Monday, November 11th, 2024, with his loving family by his side.
Carl dearly loved and cherished his family. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Elsie, son Troy (Christina), daughter Carla (Wally), grandchildren Caleb, Irellyn and Ashley; great grandchildren Julien and Jaxson; brother Winston, and sister Diane (Glen). In addition, Carl leaves to mourn a circle of nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family; as well as a large circle of friends.
Carl was born in Grand Falls, NL on November 6, 1951, and grew up in Burnside, Bonavista Bay, NL. He moved to Goose Bay in 1969, where he met the love of his life Elsie Patey. They married December 15, 1972, and together raised two wonderful children.
Carl lived a life filled with tremendous kindness and service towards others. He was employed as a firefighter on the base in Goose Bay for 36 years. He was proud to have been a volunteer firefighter for 44 years with the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Fire Department, where he later served as fire chief for 16 years. During Carls’ firefighting career, he was a paramedic for many of them. Carl cherished the bonds and friendships he made with his fellow firefighters. He was loved and respected by everyone that knew him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family, or a charity of one’s choice.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 14th, 2024 at 2:00 pm from St Andrew's Anglican Church, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL with Rev Nellie Thomas officiating. With interment to immediately follow the service.
