Dr. Corazon Ochoa
March 16, 1936 – November 20, 2024

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dr. Corazon Ochoa announce her peaceful passing on November 20 at Western Long Term Care, palliative care unit at the age of 88 years.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories is her family in the Philippines, her brother Rizalino Luis Ochoa, and her beautiful nieces; Cathy Ochoa Perez, Joanne Paterno, Jennifer Anne Silvallana, Janelle Anne Ochoa, Richelle Anne Ochoa. Her nephew Dante Ochoa and an incredibly special friend Jeffery Campos. Her Chicago family with a large circle of loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Last but not least, her Newfoundland family, which included her best friend Bernadette Meiwald and family, the Gillinghams, the Spencers, the Colemans, members of her CWL group and her Retired Teachers Association.

She was predeceased by her parents Jose and Natividad Ochoa.

Corazon devoted her life to teaching children and thoroughly enjoyed helping children with special needs. She was an avid traveler who enjoyed seeking adventure around the world and seeing new places, she adored theatre, dining out, and the opera. You could always hear her singing her heart out in the hallways of the school. She also loved playing music and was an amazing pianist.

She spent the last month of her wonderful life in Chicago with her loving family making forever memories and laughs. Upon her return she was hospitalized, where she remained until her final days.

As per request and wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, November 26th at 10:00am at the Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral with Father Edward Terry officiating.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral in Corazon’s memory.
