Helen passed away at the age of 82 years, at the Labrador South Health Centre in Forteau, NL on December 4th, 2024. Helen was proud to say she was born and raised in English Point, Labrador. She was born to Robert and Marion Trimm on March 21, 1942. She married the love of her life and lifelong best friend Phillip Jehu Buckle on January 14th, 1960. They welcomed five children into the world whom she loved with all her heart. She was deeply proud of each one and was always quick to share their latest accomplishments. She shared in their joy through many occasions and was especially known for her Christmas spirit.

Helen was known for her quick wit, musical talent, kind and generous heart and story telling abilities. Her and Jehu were inseparable, spending many precious hours picking berries, cutting wood, and fishing together. In the evenings they would cheer on the Leaf’s as she would thoughtfully knit many socks and slippers for her loved ones. She was a hard and proud worker until she was 72 years of age in the fish plant in L’Anse Au Loup where she made many friendships and had many stories to tell. Family was the most important part of her life. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She dearly loved her brothers and sisters and their families, and their bond remained strong throughout the years. Everyday she spoke to them or of them. She loved each niece and nephew and they each held a special place in her heart. Helen lived her life with an open heart. Her home was always opened to host many visitors, and she was always happiest with her friends and family around her. She had many friends from near and far and everyone always felt welcome in her home. Helen’s legacy of love will continue in her stories that we will forever tell.

A special thank you to the Labrador South Health Centre staff who took care of our mom many times over the years, always treating her with kindness, compassion and respect; and to all her homecare workers who did the same. Thank you to everyone who visited and provided/dropped off food, your kindness has not gone unnoticed.
