Debra Ann Connolly
July 30, 1955 - December 22, 2024
It is with profound sadness that the family of Debra (“Debbie”) Connolly from Stephenville Crossing announce her peaceful passing on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the age of 69 years.
Debbie was born in Wichita, Kansas, United States on July 30, 1955. She was the eldest daughter of Audet (Chaffey) Reed and James E. Reed. Debbie’s family moved between Air Force bases throughout the United States and Stephenville, Newfoundland, where James was stationed. Debbie met the love of her life, Lawrence Connolly, in Stephenville Crossing, Newfoundland. They married in Toronto on August 16, 1975, and returned to Stephenville Crossing where they raised their sons, Quentin and Nathan.
Debbie will be affectionately remembered by her sons: Jonathan Reed, Kansas; Quentin Connolly (Kelly), Nova Scotia; and Nathan Connolly, Newfoundland; grandsons: Braeden, Owen, and Finn Connolly and Andrew, Cannon, and Jayla Reed; brother: Brian Reed; Sister: Jeniffer Thomas (Jeff); sisters-in-law: Rona, Tina, and Norma (Joanne); brother-in-law, Jerome; as well as many nieces and nephews; extended family; and friends. She was predeceased by her parents James and Audet, her devoted husband, Lawrence, and brother, Dale.
Debbie had a remarkable ability to develop a special and unique bond with each member of her family and friends. Family and friends will fondly remember Debbie’s devotion to loved ones and a welcome home for a visit. Everyone could always rely on Debbie to help others in need, especially with her work in the fields of childcare and home support. Anytime Debbie could take on a task to ease another’s burden, she did so readily with a smile and without question. She had a fantastic sense of humour and always ready with quick-witted replies.
Debbie has passed on her kindness, devotion, and willingness to take on any task to her sons, whom she adored. Debbie thrived as a grandmother, and has left her grandchildren with amazing memories of adventures, individual chats, extended visits, games, and everything she could do to get a giggle from them.
The family is forever grateful for the care and support of the teams in the Intensive Care Units at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital and Western Memorial Regional Hospital. Special thank you to Norma Connolly, Barb Connolly, and Elaine Downey.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
If you would like to honour Debbie’s memory, please donate to a charity of your choice or anonymously do something that will help another in need.
Until we meet again, we hope that your heaven is on a warm beach under the sun and a palm tree in Hawaii.
