I remember once when Jim sold my mother Maude a thank-you microwave oven at Kearsey's. She was balking at completing the sale - "Jimmy that price is just too low". After some lively discussion, Jim closed the sale by threatening to lower the price even more! This was an emotional encounter for both of them.

Paulette, Patrick and Gerald, please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Jim, a great husband and father. I can remember meeting Jim for the very first time at the Caribou Road Furniture Store back in the early 1990’s. That meeting, turned into a bond and friendship that has lasted a lifetime. Jim was a man of great integrity, who had a love for the business and an even greater love for his family and his music. Jim treated everyone with respect and he received that same respect back ten fold. I often saw him defuse irate customers and have them leaving a Coleman’s Store happier than they were when they came in. His demeanour was infectious, his smile was warm and his laugh was always reassuring. To have been a part of his life was a privilege. I will forever cherish the hours we spent working together over the years. Jim and I spent a lot of time together and our friendship spanned well beyond the walls of our business relationship. While the stories are too many to mention, rest assured they are forever etched in my memories. May every sign of affection and love you receive during this difficult time, be a sign of the impact Jim Coleman left on the people he touched during his life. God Bless you all and rest in peace, Jim my friend.

Fare thee well, Jim. My childhood is full of great memories of all the time we spent together - you were my best cousin-friend. We had adventures together and got into a little trouble as well. From George’s Lake to Marble Mountain to Brookfield Avenue to hanging out on West Street to dances where you drummed your heart out, I treasure all those things.

Saddened to learn of Jim's passing. He was truly a gentleman who always had time for you. Whenever I visited Coleman's in Corner Brook, he would always be there to chat, not just about business, but the important things like, family, friends and generally, "how are you doing?" On one occasion, Jim drove with me to Port aux Basques to visit the Coleman's store there. We talked steady for 4 hours in the car while counting the moose alongside the road on the way. It's those happy memories that you must think about in times of loss. It gets you through.
