It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Beatice Etheridge, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and Aunt.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children Larry (Nancy), Peggy (Ross); her grandchildren Daphne (Shawn), Lynette (Frederic), Keala (Ryan); Great Grandchildren Mekenna, Ulderic, Kihana, Ronan and Laurel; her sister Victoria and many nieces and nephews
Predeceased by her parents Georges and Susanna, her husband Leonard, sisters Louisa, Annie, Carolyne, Edith, and Mildred, brothers William, Stephen, and Charles.
Beatrice, known to all as Beaty, passed away at the age of 96 years, at the CISSS Cote Nord, Que. on December 23rd, 2024. Beaty was born and raised in Brador, Quebec where she cared for her parents until their final days and where she raised 2 children with her husband Leonard Goudie. She also helped raise her grandchildren who she loved dearly.
Beaty was a proud and hardworking woman, from household chores to the wharf to the store and caring for her family, she was never very idle. When she did have some time, she loved to knit, sew and crochet. Her crafts adorned many a home and her skills were always in demand. She was a perfectionist who never left a stitch out of place, or a piece of clothes stained.
She enjoyed playing bingo in the community and cards at home with her family. There were many games of queens or Skip-boo played around the kitchen table. She would often recite the sisters’ words: life is like a game of cards sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t. In her alone time, she would play a game of patience, fill in her puzzle books or read books about true life stories that she would always share with the rest of us.
A special thank you to the staff at the CISSS Cote Nord who took care of our mom in her final days. Thank you to everyone who visited and provided support to the family, your kindness has not gone unnoticed.
The visitation will take place from now til December 26th 10pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 27th at 11 am at the Church in Brador by Francie Keats.
