Allan George Ryan
June 16, 1947 - December 23, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Allan George Ryan announce his passing at 77 years old at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on December 23, 2024.
He leaves to mourn, with a lifetime of beautiful memories, his wife Laura; son Todd (Lee); granddaughter Hannah and great granddaughter Lucy; sister Rose (Rick); niece Dawn (Jody) and great-nieces Jae and Noa. He will be greatly missed by his brothers John (Joy), Jim (Marie), and Terry; sister-in-laws Brenda and Hazel; brother-in-laws Peter, Raymond and Myles. Also leaving to mourn his special nieces Jennifer, Leigh Ann, Lisa and Nicole; nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and close friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Olive; his brothers Don, Frank, Dave, Randy, and Billy; his sister Gertie; his parents-in-law Peter and Violet; his nieces Della and Darlene; his nephew Willieand his fur baby Mindy.
Allan was born on June 16, 1947 in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. He was the fourth eldest of eleven children. At the young age of sixteen he went to work at Bowater Pulp and Paper. In July of 1971 he welcomed his only child Todd. In 1978 he met his future wife, Laura, and married in 1987. He worked at the Mill as a carpenter for his career where he was active in Local 64, District Labour Council, Shop Steward and Occupational Health and Safety. Allan was a kind, genuine and humble man. Life’s most simple pleasures made him the happiest. He loved to spend his time salmon fishing, hunting, gardening, going to his cabin in Sheffield Lake and enjoying a cup of tea. However, his most favorite thing of all was his family. He had the ability to make everyone feel special. Allan was a light in this world that will be tremendously missed.
Allan’s family would like to thank the countless family members and close friends, especially Wayne Rose, Lisa and John, Abbie and Grenfell Staff for their endless support. We would also like to acknowledge Dr. Al Gherbali and the nurses on 4C of the Western Memorial Regional Hospital for their compassion and care.
As per Allan's wishes, cremation and a private family visitation has taken place. Visitation for family and friends will be held on January 11, 2025 at Fillatre's Funeral Home 4 St. Marks Avenue at 10:30am followed by the funeral service at 11:30am with Canon Tanya White officating and interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or a donation may be made to the Daffodil House or charity of one's choice.
