Obituary of George Stephen Quehe
Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that the family of the late George Stephen Quehe Jr. announces his sudden passing on January 2, 2025, in his home in Goose Bay, Labrador, at the age of 62.
George grew up in Northern Ontario, assisting his father in the family construction business. He moved to Labrador with the Canadian Military and, after an honourable discharge, served a long and dedicated 32 years of service with the Commissionaires of Canada. He was a quiet man known for his dry humour, ability to spin a grand conspiracy theory, and love of the outdoors. George spent his free time camping, fishing, hunting and splitting his time between his cabin at Lobstick and his cottage on the island.
He leaves to mourn, with fond and loving memories, his wife, Gayle, and his three children, Becky (Arthur), Amanda, and Sabrina (Jen). A highlight of George’s life is his five grandchildren, Caleb, Aurora, Elijah, Micah and Wolf. He also leaves his brothers Roy (Joan), David (Sandy), John (Karen), sisters Elsie (Clifford), Sheila, and Eva (Tim), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.
George is predeceased by his parents, George Sr and Ada Quehe, his mother-in-law Rebecca Sheppard, and his faithful feline companions, Whiskers and Viper.
A viewing will be hosted at Fillatre’s Funeral Home on Monday, January 6, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, at 1 p.m. at the Bethel Pentecostal Tabernacle, with interment to follow at the Pentecostal cemetery.
