Obituary of Isaac Joseph George
Please share a memory of Isaac to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Isaac (Ike) George, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on the palliative care unit at WMRH on January 11, 2025, at the age of 79.
Born on October 21, 1945, in Curling, NL, Ike was the cherished son of John Joe George and Ada (nee Caines), who instilled in him the values of love, kindness, and the importance of family. For 55 beautiful years, Isaac shared his life with his devoted wife, Rose (nee Gallant), together they created a loving home for their daughters, Darlene (Daryl Bennett), Tina (Jeff Edmonds) and Terri Pittman who will always cherish his love, support and encouragement.
Isaac’s love extended deeply to his sisters Barb O’Blenis, Elaine Graham and brother Jack George. Preceding him in death was his sister, Marilyn Borden, whose memory he held dear. He was also loved by his many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews and other extended family. His legacy continues on through his grandchildren: Andrew, Jennifer, Ethan, Presley-Rose, Cohen, Jamielynn, as well as his great-grandson, Asher, who have all brought immense joy to his life.
A Veteran and a man of the outdoors, Isaac had a deep passion for hunting and fishing. There weren’t many ponds along the west coast that he hadn’t explored, and he was known to share some of his secret fishing spots with only a lucky few. He took great pride in sharing a good feed of trout with family and friends.
Throughout his life, Isaac embodied qualities that touched the hearts of many. Whether he was sharing a fishing story, or simply listening to a loved one, his warmth and compassion shone through. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be remembered by all who knew him.
The George family wishes to send a sincere thank-you to the doctors and nursing staff of the palliative care unit, and his community health nurse Danielle whose support and care over the last few months helped Dad remain at home as long as he could.
As per Isaac’s wishes, cremation has taken place. At this time, there will be no viewing or service. The family is taking time to mourn and will hold a private Celebration of Life.
