Mary Fiander (nee: Francis)

Ramea, NL

Sept 12, 1946 -Jan 11,2025

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Mary Fiander, at Western Long Term Care, Palliative Unit on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at the age of 78.

Mary was born in Hermitage, NL to Aquilla and Dessima Francis. She worked as a telephone operator for the Canadian National Telephone Company, which is how she met her husband, Samuel B. Fiander of Ramea over the switchboard and they married on December 26, 1968. They settled in Ramea and raised 3 children. Above all her family meant everything to her, she dedicated her life to supporting them. Mary was a devoted and proud member of the Ramea Lioness Club and the Anglican Church Women. She took pleasure over the years participating and socializing at community card games and bingo. Her favorite hobby was sewing, a craft she poured her heart into, leaving a legacy of love and creativity. But her love and devotion to her children is her greatest achievement.

She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories children Sheri, Samuel both residing in Corner Brook and Sharlene (Kelly Sibley) residing in Ramea. Grandchildren: Erin (Kobe), Jordan (Diana) and Mackenzie (Jordan) residing in Corner Brook, Mary residing in Ramea; as well,  her longtime friends Frances and Calvin Scott; sisters-in-law Marlene and Rowena (Nee: Fiander) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Samuel Fiander April 9, 2015; parents Aquilla and Dessima Francis; siblings: Freeman Francis, Oliver Francis (Lucy), Ida Bell Anderson (Hubert) of Lunenburg, NS.
