KATHLEEN ELSIE (KAY) SMITH (neePenney) April 16, 1926 … October 23, 2010 Born in Irishtown, NL. Psalm II Verse 5: Precious in the sight of the Lord, is the death of His Saints. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Kathleen Smith announces her passing at the ICU, Western Memorial Hospital on Saturday, October 23rd, 2010 in her 84th year. In the beautiful garden along with Our Precious Lord will be her loving Husband Levi John Smith (2004); her parents, Albert H. and Gertrude Penney (Lewis); her parents in law: Issac and Rose Smith (Breaker); sister: Marjorie and brothers-in-law: Richard Flynn, Arthur Mighton, Gilbert Lidstone; brother: Herbert Penney and sister-in-law: Nellie Smith. Leaving with fond and loving memories are her three children and one very special Grandson Gerry, whom she raised from the time he was five days old as her own child; one son: Derek (Marie) Smith, Thornville, Ohio; grandson: Gerry L. (Debra-Lynn) Smith, Irishtown; two daughters: Maxine (Donald) Piercey , St. John’s and Judy (James) Trueman, Pickering, ON; seven grandchildren:, Janet (Cornel), ON, Brenda, Ohio, Brian (Robin), Ohio, Kimberly, ON, Stanley, Mark and Michael, On; 12 great grandchildren; Rachael, Christy, Matthew, Becky, Eric, Amber, Brittany, ON, Arielle, Augustina and Beth, Thornville, Ohio, Cameron and Kate-Lynn, Irishtown; four sisters: Alma Mighton, Geraldine (Anthony) Rayner, Joan (Clifford) House and Laura Lidstone; one brother: Ronald (Sadie) Penney; Irishtown; two brothers-in-law: Moses and James (Sadie) Smith, Deer Lake, sister-in-law: Agnes Penney, Irishtown; special nephew: Willis (Wanda) Baker, Corner Brook and a great number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Tuesday and Wednesday from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 28th at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, Clarence Street. Reverend Tanya White, Reverend Derek Thomas and son-in-law: Pastor James Trueman officiating followed by Interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. A Reception will follow at All Saints Hall, provided by All Saints ACW. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to All Saints Anglican Church Roofing Fund.
