CARMEL MARIA BLACKWOOD Corner Brook, NL It is with great sadness that the family of the late Carmel Blackwood announce her passing on Saturday, October 30th, 2010 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 78 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her sons: Terry (Barbara), Wayne (Sylvia), Randy (Helen), John and Brian (Ida); daughters: Brenda Frampton and Elaine (Robert) Penney; 10 grandchildren: Mark, Jennifer, Jonathan, Robert, Natasha, Stacey, Jason, Jennifer, David and Brendon; great grandchildren: Nathan and Noah, Hailey, Addison, Emily, Tyler, Jake and Faith; sister: Kathleen Byrne (Bill); brother: Joseph (Deborah) Whiffen; sisters-in-law: Madeline Whiffen and Marina Watkins; brother-in-law: Darryl Shears (Joan); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Henry Blackwood; parents: Elizabeth and Andrew Whiffen; sisters: Elizabeth Shears and Joan Finlay; brothers: Andrew and Patrick. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Sunday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 1st at 11:00 A.M. from Fillatre’s Chapel, St. Marks Avenue , Reverend Clayton Parsons officiating, followed by interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
