It is with great sadness that the family of the late Goldie Briffett announce her passing after a courageous battle with cancer on the Palliative Care Unit at Western Memorial Hospital on Monday, March 28th, 2011 at the age of 64 years. She was surrounded by family and her faithful dog Daisy. She was a loving wife to Orvan (45 years); proud mother of Paul (Andrea) and deeply devoted grandmother to Noah, William and Benjamin. She had a great love of family, friends, laughter, her cabin and a good day of trouting. Predeceased by her parents Ethel and John Butt; brother’s Bill, Jack and David; her three special dogs: Bimbo, Casey and Sasha. She is survived by her brothers: Kevin (Dianne), Ron (Janet) and Jim (Gerarda); sisters-in-law: Lorraine Butt and Helen Butt; brothers-in-law: Wins Briffett (Elvie), Gus Briffett (Ruby) and sisters-in-law: Geraldine Powell (Jack) and Maisie Arnold (Lyndon); as well as a large circle of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, family and friends and special great niece Alicia Park (Nan loves you). Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Tuesday evening, 7-9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 31st at 10:30 A.M. from Sacred Heart Church, Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. Cremation to follow at Humber Valley Crematorium. In lieu of flowers as expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Hospital or the Bay of Islands SPCA as Goldie dearly loved her animals.
