VERNA R. GABRIEL Corner Brook, NL December 24, 1927 - April 28, 2011 It is with great sadness that the family of the late Verna R. Gabriel announce her passing on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at her residence at the age of 83 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her children: Valerie (Melvin) Brett, Pasadena and Kenneth (Pauline) Gabriel, Corner Brook; grandchildren: Mark Brett (Donna), Tanya Brett (Rupert), David Gabriel (Jennifer) and Matthew Gabriel (Jennifer); 2 precious great-grandchildren: Taylor and Sarah Gabriel; brother Gerald (Mae) Penney; sisters: Sylvia Sweetapple (Charlie May) and Elaine (Jack) Tracey; sister-in-law Dorothy Penney; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Elot and Alice Penney, husband Edmund Gabriel, brothers Reg and Lloyd Penney, sister-in-law Rose Penney and brother-in-law Edgar Sweetapple. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Friday 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 30 at 4:00 p.m. from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Main Street with the Very Rev. Michael Rice officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
