JOYCE VELVEN BURSEY (nee Button) Corner Brook, NL Passed peacefully away on Friday, May 20, 2011 Joyce Velven Bursey at Western Memorial Hospital in her 92nd year. She was a loving mother to daughters: Meta Gillingham, with whom she resided, Annie (Terry Hicks), Ottawa, ON, Jean Glover (Wilson Vincent), Judy (Dave Joseph) and Sandy Avery (Keith Didham), Corner Brook; loving grandmother to: Suzanne (Tim Chiasson), Ken (Peng) Hicks, Glen (Loren) Hicks, Glenn Glover (Heather), Stephen Glover (Brenda), Stephen Bursey (Christine), Greg Bursey (Linda) and their mother Pat, Nicolle Joseph, Jessica Avery, Bradley Avery and their father Bill; great grandchildren: Alyssa, Mark and Michael, Garry and Tracey, Gracen and Evelyn, Braxton and Cameron, Cheyenne and Jacob; daughter-in-law: Cathy; sister-in-law: Florence Anstey; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred John (Jack), 1996; son: Donald , 2010; sons-in-law: George Gillingham, 1991, Fred Glover, 2003, granddaughter-in-law: Tammy Bursey; as well as five brothers and one sister. Granting her wishes, cremation has taken place at Humber Valley Crematorium, Pasadena. A Family Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 22nd, at 2:00 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Home Chapel, with Marilyn Avery officiating, followed by interment at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice.
